Distance Learning

The RI Department of Education is allowing for a certain amount of Distance Learning (or "DL") Days, in place of traditional snow days, that will count towards the school year calendar. The district will announce a distance learning day through text message, email, and postings to major television and radio stations (ex: “Warwick Public Schools – Distance Learning Day [and providing the date here]”).

A Distance Learning Day may be called due to poor weather conditions, power or heating outages at Warwick Neck, or other unforeseeable reasons. As a result, teachers have reviewed with students what the expectations are and how to log into Google Classroom for their grade level when and if these decisions are called by the district. (For security reasons, Google classroom codes are not provided on our website.)

DL Day Guidelines:

--  Students are marked “present” during the first live Google meet of the day at 9AM. They are marked “tardy” if they arrive at the second meet, but not the first. They will be marked “absent” if they are not present for any of the meets that day. Teachers will provide the schedules to students and families for the day via email and/or Google Classroom.

-- There will be a total of three (3) live meets with their classroom teacher, in addition to meets with math / reading specialists (for certain students) as well as itinerant classes for all students (Art, Music, Physical Education, etc.).

-- Any and all links to the meets can be found on the teacher’s Google classroom which will be outlined with students. All children will be provided with breaks for lunch and recess during the day.

Having trouble accessing Google Classroom, or have questions about assignments?

If you have any questions or have trouble accessing anything, a complete photo/email directory of faculty can be found here on our school website to contact the appropriate teacher.
