The following was sent via email to the community from our Principal, Mr. Galligan, at 3:12 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025:
Dear Families of Warwick Neck Elementary,
Today, during a "surprise" breakfast before our school day began, the faculty and staff celebrated two very special people who are retiring from teaching on Wednesday, June 18th (our Last Day of School). In the interest of keeping you informed, we wanted to share that:
Mrs. Catherine Maguire is retiring after 32 years at Warwick Neck as our 2nd Grade Teacher. Altogether, Mrs. Maguire has provided 43 years of service to Warwick Schools, initially starting as a Teacher Assistant. Generations of kids (who are now adults and sending their children to our school) have benefitted from Mrs. Maguire's guidance, support, and love for education -- not to mention her active membership on the PTA (Serving as the faculty representative, alongside parents, for so many years). While we are very sad to see her go from our school, we undoubtedly wish her well as she embarks on the next chapter of her life!
Mrs. Patti Blanchard, our Speech and Language pathologist, is retiring after (as she says, "too many to count") years of service to Warwick Schools. Mrs. Blanchard, or "Miss Patti" as she is known to her youngest students, has considered her role to be a labor of love with helping countless children improve their speech capabilities over many years. Mrs. Blanchard has also served on our school's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) committees, as well as being active on our PTA - attending many meetings and supporting at numerous events. We will certainly feel the loss of her positive demeanor, constant smile, and love for what she does each and every day!
Additionally, we cannot forget to mention:
Mrs. Patricia Cousineau, Director of Elementary Education and former Principal of Warwick Neck Elementary, has also announced her retirement effective on June 30th. Mrs. Cousineau joined us this morning to help celebrate our retirees - while fondly looking back on her own time at our school, too. During her tenure at our school, Mrs. Cousineau helped to build and maintain vital academic rigor, while fostering positive family and community partnerships, and promoting a continuous love for learning. Mrs. Cousineau was instrumental in bringing a brand-new playground to our school that many now enjoy - in addition to countless other initiatives that helped to shape and make Warwick Neck Elementary what it is today. Warwick Schools, and Warwick Neck Elementary, will undoubtedly feel the loss of Mrs. Cousineau next year as she takes on new and exciting adventures within the education landscape.
Our school is an exceptional place because of professionals that provide the best of themselves to bring out the best in our kids. Mrs. Maguire, Mrs. Blanchard, and Mrs. Cousineau have certainly done this - and for that we extend our gratitude and best wishes.
With thanks,
-- Mr. Galligan
