Warwick Neck Elementary School needed to evacuate its building due to the odor of gas today. Students, faculty, staff, and school families are thanked for their patience, cooperation, and support during this unexpected emergency that warranted transport of 300 children and 50+ staff to the Gorton Administration Building to ensure everyone’s health and safety during cold, inclement weather while awaiting further steps.
Additional steps are now being taken, in conjunction with the Warwick Fire Department and National Grid, to monitor things more closely. However, these actions will warrant distance learning while the ongoing situation is remedied.
As a result, Warwick Neck School will be closed to occupants – and students and staff will undertake distance learning on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Live Google Meets, as well as asynchronous (completed at one's own pace) assignments will be offered. Please note that attendance will be taken during the first live Google Meet starting at 9 AM. Distance learning day expectations, and faculty/staff contact information for support during the day, have been attached below.
Please note that families with IEP Team Meetings, originally scheduled for tomorrow, will still meet with school faculty and staff, albeit virtually, at the set times.
Thank you, again, for your support as we navigated this situation together. You may view distance learning expectations here.
